According to Gairoen, everything starts with respect and recognition. “Cleaners are indispensable to our society,” she says. “That’s one of the very first things I tell new employees.”

Gairoen has been working at Breedweer for more than two years and has grown from Lead Cleaner to Mobile Site Supervisor. In her current role, she leads teams and maintains close contact with both employees and clients.
For Gairoen, workplace guidance goes far beyond supervising daily tasks. It also means listening, recognising when someone needs support, and being there for them. “My team knows they can always come to me, whether it’s about work or something personal,” she explains.
This is especially important for employees from vulnerable groups. They need to feel safe, heard, and valued. It is this personal approach that makes her workplace guidance both effective and meaningful.

From Education to Practical Experience
Gairoen studied Social Legal Services, specialising in employment and human resources. It did not take long for her to realise that an office job was not the right fit. After graduating, she worked in childcare and later as an administrative assistant. When she became unemployed during the economic downturn, she refused to sit still. Instead, she volunteered for several organisations, including the Sailability Foundation.
These experiences have shaped her and continue to influence the way she provides workplace guidance. She understands how important it is to feel useful and to be an active part of society.
The Perfect Balance Between Thinking and Doing
In 2015, Gairoen started working in the cleaning industry as a domestic cleaner for elderly people through the Employer Service Point. It was something she had previously thought would never suit her.
“But I absolutely loved it,” she says with a smile.
In 2019, she joined Breedweer, where she found the perfect balance between thinking and doing.
Workplace guidance plays a major role in that. Because of her enthusiasm and commitment, she sometimes takes on too much at once, but her colleagues are always there to support her. “We help each other and are always there for one another,” she says. According to Gairoen, that is what makes Breedweer such a great place to work.

A walk through the Child and Youth Centre of Heliomare quickly shows how skilled Gairoen is at her job. She has built a strong rapport with everyone and effortlessly switches between different conversations.
Whether she is speaking with an employee, a client, or giving practical work instructions, she remains approachable, engaged, and clear. For Gairoen, workplace guidance is about making sure everyone feels heard. That applies not only to her team, but also to the client.
“If everyone feels comfortable and knows what is expected of them, then I’ve done my job well,” she says.
