During the previous interview, Jermain spoke about his ambition to grow within De Ster Bedrijfsdiensten. Now, two years later, he has progressed in his career and plays an important role within the company.
Jermain started as a window cleaner and has now been working for De Ster Bedrijfsdiensten for many years.
“I told Betina fairly early on that I wanted to progress within the company,” he says.
That ambition was rewarded. After a period as a working foreman, he advanced to the role of Project Manager.
“That felt like a great next step. I used to be the one on the ladder; now I make sure everything on and around the ladder runs smoothly.”
Training and Change
To continue developing himself, Jermain completed a leadership training programme. At the same time, the team expanded and the structure of the company evolved.
“We now have a larger team of window cleaners, and that requires a different approach. More clients, more responsibilities, and better organisation. The acquisition by Breedweer in 2022 has played a major role in that.”
Challenges and a New Role
The transition from colleague to manager at De Ster Bedrijfsdiensten was an interesting challenge.
“You develop a different relationship with the guys. I worked alongside them for years, and now I’m responsible for managing them. That took some getting used to, but it’s going well.”
The biggest change?
“I spend less time on the ladder and much more time on the road. I inspect locations, meet with clients, and make sure everything runs smoothly.”
Future and Growth
Jermain is satisfied with his current role.
“I do not necessarily need to progress any further, but I do want to keep contributing to the development of the team. The more the company grows, the more we grow as a team.”
A Strong Team
Jermain feels a strong connection to De Ster.
“Here, you work together, help each other, and get opportunities to grow. You can see that with other colleagues as well. There are always opportunities, as long as you are willing to take them.”
