“The trophy really feels like the crowning achievement of our work,” says Marieke from Team Leeuwarden proudly. Together with her colleagues at Breedweer, she won the title of Cleaning Team of the Year this year. A special recognition for the work they carry out every day with dedication and commitment.

A Day to Remember
The award ceremony took place at Ouwehands Zoo and was made even more special for the team because director Jack Stuifbergen personally drove them to the venue.
“I thought that was really special,” says Marieke. “Everything was perfectly organised: the welcome, the atmosphere, and the entire event.”
Before the ceremony began, the teams were invited to explore the zoo together.
“The only disappointment was that the koala kept sitting with its back towards us,” she laughs.
The Moment of Victory
When it was finally announced that Team Leeuwarden had won the title of Cleaning Team of the Year, the joy was overwhelming.
“I genuinely got goosebumps,” Marieke recalls. “We felt incredibly appreciated.”
Their client, Municipality of Leeuwarden, also showed how proud they were. The intranet was filled with congratulatory messages, and at the location itself, the team was showered with flowers, chocolate, and cake.
More Than a Title
For Marieke and her colleagues, the competition means much more than a trophy or a collection of prizes. Above all, it is recognition for the work that cleaners do every single day.
“Cleaning is definitely not a small thing,” says Marieke. “It’s wonderful that attention is being given to it in this way.”
