Do you know the character Brother Tuck from the Robin Hood legend? The cheerful monk in a habit, full of courage and a strong sense of justice. That same fighting spirit drives me, Willem van Spaendonck. I call myself the Brother Tuck of the inclusive labor market, someone who is committed to equal opportunities, fair work, and a society in which everyone counts.

Thirteen years ago, I followed an outplacement program in which I was asked to choose someone who embodies my ideals. Combative and helpful, those are the values that define me. And yes, my rather sturdy build quickly completed the comparison with Brother Tuck.

From fighting spirit to inspiration

When I was recently asked to review a publication by Diversiteit in Bedrijf, I noticed how negative the tone often is. But I want to show that it can be done differently. That is why I portray people who, with their unique “user manual,” have developed remarkable talents, and I ask employers to share their side of the story.

Because at Breedweer, it is about more than cleaning: it is a means to create impact, give people opportunities, and make the Netherlands cleaner and more social.
